Well, it was Donut Day, and Daybreak at Del Mar was well attended. Lots of fun kids' activities and a really interesting Q&A with track bugler, Les Kepics. But you know, I was there for the horses.
I love the early morning at the track. It's quiet and getting close to the horses isn't hard. Many of the exercise riders have great fun with the few folks who are standing close to the rail and grooms are happy to put their ponies through their gates and show us how special they are, too.
From race-ready to not-quite-getting-this-breazzing-thing...they are all wonderful to watch.
As post time approached I made some new friends in the Paddock Bar and was fortunate to get some limited access to the paddock. A truly lovely day.

And be sure to have a look at my Kickstarter campaign. It's doing well, but needs your help! http://kck.st/1oCpHkL
